Lets’ Ring and Read The Word!!
Play-based learning is gaining momentum in the Early Years. Play supports positive attitudes towards learning. It includes imagination, curiosity, enthusiasm, and persistence. The type of learning processes and skills fostered in play cannot be replicated through rote learning, where there is an emphasis on remembering facts. Research shows play-based learning enhances children’s academic and developmental learning outcomes.
Keeping this in mind, children of K.G were involved in an activity which was presented in a very interesting way. Children had to ring the words with “ch” as initial sound written on the fish flashcards and later, had to read them. They enjoyed the activity completely and it helped in boosting their confidence as they could read the words confidently with a wide smile and it also worked as a reinforcement of the concept.
