Our Senior Wing resonates with the Vision and Mission of the Manav Rachna International Schools which envisages the learner at the centre of the teaching-learning process by promoting Self-learning, Inclusive Education, innovative teaching learning pedagogies, and blending of n-person and online learning in a communicative and collaborative learning environment.

The senior wing balances rigorous academics with a multitude of activities, programs and events to stimulate the young dynamism and fiery spirit of our students. The campus promotes an Inclusive learning environment which gives every individual the freedom of expression and the freedom to be. The school manages a fine balance between scholastic and co-scholastic interests and pursuits of the learners by providing them equal opportunities to learn, flourish and grow. We encourage students to develop and hone a multitude of skills by exposing them to various local, national as well as international platforms. Some of the activities which we strongly promote and adhere to are listed below.

MODEL UNITED NATIONS

Model United Nations is an interactive educational activity in which students simulate the workings of the UN or one of its many organs. In this era of globalization, being globally aware is more important than ever. It’s a fun way of learning about the world.

Students learn about the world problems in MUN club as they prepare for the conferences, represent countries other than their own and present possible solutions to global problems in committee.

MUN activity is a platform for students to step into the shoes of international diplomats and discuss world issues like Economic Depressions, Civil Wars, Nationwide Emergencies, and much more. It helps the students to think beyond and analyse situations, and be prepared for the worst through debates and conferences. Our students participate in MUN conferences pan India.

Model United Nations is an event organized by Manav Rachna International School, Ludhiana, Punjab. Being one of the most challenging MUNs, Model United Nations attracts delegate participation PAN India. We intend to create an environment conducive for fruitful debate and meaningful discussion on issues that are of global concern.

All these sessions are thought-provoking and help students in developing their debating skills, leadership skills, critical thinking, confidence, teamwork and public speaking. Our students have been challenging traditions.

LIFE SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

In the modern workplace, you need more than technical skills to be successful in your career. Today’s employers seek candidates who can perform their jobs well but who can also fit into the company culture and interact with other employees.

In order to do these things successfully, students need to develop effective soft skills. Soft Skills training programs enhance students’ ability to deal effectively with surroundings and make sound decisions. Soft skills are attributes that enable you to engage in meaningful interactions with others. Since most jobs require teamwork, it’s important to possess soft skills to enhance your employability and achieve your dream job. They will help you increase your productivity in your career, build professional relationships and thrive at your job.

Soft Skills sessions have been a continuous endeavour of MRIS Ludhiana. During these trying times, students are trained through both the online and offline medium. We have successfully been able to train students on time management skill, effective communication, building effective interpersonal skill, decision making skill and teamwork. The sessions take place with the help of interactive activities, power point presentations and videos.

We do organize such sessions by dedicating a special day such as Technology day. As

Today’s technology is a booming market full of electrifying and ingenious derivatives and unique learning opportunities all done to stimulate the curiosity, wherein the primacy of technology was lectured and also the skill of tracking the screen time was acquired by children. The Hour of Code was observed which was designed to demystify “code”, to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. A guest lecturer, Mr Harinderpal Singh from PCTE, Ludhiana HOD and an Assistant professor, Department of CSE & IT was invited to address children about cyber security as it holds utmost significance because it encompasses everything that relates to safeguarding our data from cyber attackers which could contrarily be a peril. An assortment of projects was displayed in which an allay of web pages, applications, software and hardware were developed by children under the tip of experts. 

CAREER GUIDANCE, COUNSELLING & STREAMS OFFERED

Manav Rachna International School, Ludhiana not only provides spectrums of formal education to the youngsters but also ample opportunities to raise high in the near and far future are endowed to the learners. On understanding an assortment of educational streams, periodically few students locate it difficult to recognize their passions, so the school authorities were determined to conduct career guidance and counselling session by CIALFO, a global tech company which is the most reliable way to find out the career fascination. Manager, CIALFO administered a workshop for students, fostering the primacy of career selection and being prompt in it. As promised, career guidance in the student’s life which can solely veer around the Scenario upside down for them by analysing their interests and personality characteristics through which they can evaluate themselves with the best possible career options which suit them. In this techno-savvy world, career counselling has expanded its length and breadth so that it can reach to a mass audience for the betterment of the nation. Three different levels of tests that enable them in identifying one’s own area of interests were the prime parameters of the day. The later part of the session concludes with the info assessed for different foreign and national universities. The pros of work shop were shared with the students wherein valuable scholarships, one-on-one counselling cells, placements, ROI were explained. The resource selves addressed the senior most grade of the institution clearing their vague thoughts about the process of admission for higher studies. MRIS Ludhiana believes in Psychometric Testing followed by an individual counselling session by our school counsellors with both the parents with their ward as per the appointment given by the class teacher. Aptitude Test Report along with child’s academic and extracurricular achievements is discussed with parents and student together in these sessions. 

MRIS Ludhiana offers the following streams at Senior secondary level, in Medical (PCB) Non-Medical (PCM) Commerce, Humanities. With an option of opting the subjects like, Music, Painting, History, Food Nutrition & Dietary, Mass Media, Financial Marketing, Information Technology.

Students are also taken for field and industry visits. Our counsellor’s and teachers are approachable and available for any career-related needs and recommendations etc.

DEVELOPING ENTREPRENEURIAL SKILLS

The school promotes an environment of innovation and creativity where students are encouraged to showcase their talent and business acumen by participating in various international and national level competitions, cultivating Design Thinking, help develop unconventional talents and skills, and introduces skills of Financial Literacy at an early age.

The school has taken up Financial Literacy modules to be made part of the Senior School Curriculum from the academic session 2020-21 onwards. It is our endeavour to help our students gain perspective and critical thinking ability and convert problems into opportunities by engaging them in inter school competitions, student-led business plans and student-led practices in school.

Financial Skills is the ability to make informed judgments and decisions regarding the use and management of money. Financial Skills helps in improving the quality of life by promoting, budgeting, disciplined savings and an intelligent use of credit. It is helpful for important decisions of life like home buying, education and growth etc. Financial Skills is an essential life skill for Gen Y. To begin with, concepts of Money Management will be taught in Senior School with Basics of Money and Money Management. The course is designed in a lucid manner which will cover Journey of Money, basic tools for managing one’s personal finance effectively.

BANK BAZAAR 

“At its core, banking is not simply about profit, but about making economic relationships.”

Banking is delightful as it gives the Impulse to Capitalism such as Credit. History is consistent as every field came after the Banks. To encourage children to initiate recouping prematurely and reap the benefits of compounding, MRIS orchestrated a ‘BANK BAZAAR’ activity for the students of all grades.  Children were allowed to visit a bank setup done on school premises which elucidated the functioning of the bank which includes accepting deposits, granting loans, advances, cash, credit, and overdraft and discounting of bills.

Guest lecturers, Mr. Harsh Chadha, Branch Manager and Asst.VP accompanied by Mr. Deepinder Singh, Senior official, HDFC Bank addressed our budding analysts and economists regarding the public economy, science and development of public wealth, principles of finance, economic theory, business, economism, business theory, loan and economic science. Through slides and presentations, a virtual bank was brought into the school campus. Being highly inquisitive, students burrowed down to the roots of banking and assimilated the acquired abilities.  

TED TALKS

Young people are the demographic force of the country and hold the promise of our future. Working with them and helping young people have always been a priority across times and cultures. But the changing times have challenged the mentors in exceptional manners to find strategies to insulate and empower our young people to settle as optimistic, spirited, robust adults. Contemplating the implication of Life Skills is one. Ted talk ‘TAZURBA’ resourced by our eminent faculty members, Targets the senior students of the institution, who at this age are at the epoch of exposure and evolved set of emotions. The forum was led by one of the staff members who through the assorted slides and presentations tried to insinuate all ten core life skills into the mind-sets of adolescents. Elaborate critical thinking through a narrative and left an imprint on everyone’s mind. The Life Skills Approach is one such approach that promises to contribute to the well-being of our youth and empowers them to face the varied challenges of life with calmness. With the life situation becoming more complex and challenging, there is a great need for the next generation to learn how to cope with changes. 

BOOSTING SEL AND LEADERSHIP SKILLS

“If your actions create a legacy that inspires others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, then you are an excellent leader”.

The Senior School makes arduous efforts to develop the Core Competencies for inculcating SEL (Social and Emotional Learning) and Leadership skills in learners by giving them enough opportunities for Self-Awareness, Self-Management, social awareness, interpersonal skills and responsible decision making. Students are encouraged to be in complete charge of many school programmes like the MUN, arranging webinars and workshops, and initiating student development programmes. The School boasts of an efficient, effective and highly motivated Student Council who works round the clock for the welfare and empowerment of their peers and thus, encourages the school to come up with student-friendly initiatives and programmes. Investiture Ceremony for the session 2022-23, marking the formation of a new senate. To scale the heights and reach the pinnacle of success, the school always strives to inculcate a sense of commitment and responsibility among the students with their heads held high as the future leaders. The investiture ceremony was kept up with such a motto to invest the students with a sense of responsibility and duty. The crowning heads of the students’ panel- Head Boy and Head Girl along with their subordinating members from Junior as well as Senior grades were badged.

DIRECTING STUDENTS TOWARDS A SUSTAINABLE WORLD

“Men prefer to believe that they are degenerated angels, rather than elevated apes”. “ We’ve been given a warning by science and a wake-up call by nature; it  is up to us now to heed them”. The world is in need of passionate humans who can, when required, lead responsibly and when required, follow mindfully. We need a young generation that is a part of the solution and can express itself responsibly. Senior school students of MRIS Ludhiana have been a part of a couple of marches, to express their concern over the rapidly deteriorating condition of our planet and at the same time, also pledging their support to the Government. To impress the message of sustainability on the very young children as well as the adults of the society, the students staged a nukkad natak at the school gate during the dispersal time. The senior school student members of the No Planet “B” (NPB) committee, an initiative of our students to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, are now ready to mentor their juniors to carry the baton forward.

There’s one issue that will define the contours of this century more dramatically than any other, and that is the urgent threat of a changing climate. Being cognizant of the impending disasters induced by climate variation, Manav Rachna initiated to collaborate with the US based International youth-driven ‘Protect Our Planet’ (POP)  Movement and hosted India’s FIRST ever Awareness Fest on ‘Climate Action. Representatives from different Ministries and youth-driven Climate focused organizations chaired the session. 

Climate change activists from all over the world along with 400+ students of age group 13-18 from schools across the globe attended the POP INDIA TALKS at Manav Rachna Campus participating in multiple sessions like “Inspiring Success Stories” “Change Makers”, “Business Challenge”, Minimalistic Living through Art”, “Save Soil”, “Home Composting”, “Urban Farming” and more. Pramati Pant and Nadar of Grade- XII and X, MRIS Ludhiana addressed the spectators with their views on the vulnerability of climate and its effects. An electric bike assembled and wired by an expert faculty member of the MRIS, Ludhiana was also displayed during the one-day fest with an overwhelmed message to protect the globe from the adverse effects of the emissions of pollutants from motor vehicles. At last, all speakers along with the delegates and spectators pledged to build a strong environment without sacrificing a strong economy. 

Environmental protection doesn’t happen in a vacuum. One can’t separate the impact on the environment from the impact on their families and communities, so let’s take baby steps as when multiplied by millions can transform the world.

To rekindle the essence of evolving technology, MRIS, Ludhiana executed Science Diwas on School Astoundingly; there were ample budding scientists, researchers and boffins of MRIS who observed THE LAWS OF SCIENCE vividly. Participants were spunky and full of beans when it came to DIY {Do it yourself} or Working Modules. The exhibit was segregated into three sections- basic science, experimentation and Game zone circuits amongst junior, middle and senior wings respectively. The frequencies and amplitudes of the spirits of young learners were too high to be resisted at any bar. To spice up the electrifying passion of learning in our excellent seekers; planting seeds, colour patterns, paper blower, pen and dragon jet, poster making, slogan writing, tech-rangoli and cooking without fire based on scientific descriptions along with a few other activities became the epicentre of attention and the children performed exceedingly well under the guidance of our Faculty.

INCULCATING SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

To imbibe the values of commitment to the upliftment of socially and economically disadvantaged groups of the society, the school has adopted Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Junior Wing. The students and teachers contribute by way of regular visits to the school campus and lend a helping hand through peer teaching, providing their knowledge, expertise and services. The school has helped build an elaborate library, install RO for clean drinking water, does regular maintenance of the toilets, and machinery like computers and electrical appliances, carries out tasks of keeping the campus clean, maintaining its gardens and regular white wash annually. The students also pay a visit for celebrations and distribute sweets on these visits. The school encourages students to share their stationery, books, toys etc. with the students so that they imbibe a sense of social responsibility and community leadership at an early age. “Genius only begins great works. Labour alone finishes them”.Manav Rachna International School, Ludhiana celebrated ‘Labour Day’ on the school campus with great fervour and zeal. The school has always acknowledged and recognized the contribution of its real workforce ‘the Supporting Staff’. A Special function was organized on the school premises to honour their commitment and dedication to the smooth functioning of the institution.   

GIRLS AND SOCIAL MEDIA

“Social media is about sociology and psychology more than technology.”

Manav Rachna International School, Ludhiana qualifies students to be flexible to adapt themselves in every scenario of life. Currently, Social Media plays a vital role in the life of children. Keeping in mind the pros and cons of social platforms, an Assembly was conducted by G-X students, highlighting the theme ‘Girls and Social Media’. For sure, online communication is changing the way we disseminate and how we anticipate it. Senior students have shared their views on the notion “Don’t use social media to impress people, use it to impact people”. Children showcased numerous demonstrations involving Ted talk, survey reports and questionnaire round. As Presentations are an essential element in the learning process, they enable students to think beyond textbooks; the students proved this through their efforts.

A survey was conducted by the senior students about social media wherein the participants shared their opinion on the impact of social wizards. 91% of the students agreed that they use social apps to be connected to their kith and kin followed by the secondary factor with a pole of 45% to tackle boredom or leisure time. Through the questionnaire round, students were made aware of the vicious circle of trading with these sites and apps. The elements of energy and momentum were easily reflecting on the indexes of children while demonstrating their portions.   

WORKING WITH INDUSTRIES

Considering hygiene and sanitation, the employers draped themselves in anti-bacterial uniforms covering them from head to toe. COMPETENT TEACHING FACULTY

The senior school is well-equipped with an enterprising and well qualified faculty which is career-driven, resilient and adaptable. They are excellent time managers who are able to work well under pressure – collaboratively or autonomously, as the situation requires. The teaching learning strategies include Peer and Self Learning, Flip classrooms, Blended Learning, Learning by doing, Field visits to historical monuments, financial institutions, Bio Diversity parks, Industries and manufacturing units, Waste management plants, Village Panchayats etc. The school focuses a lot on blending online with offline learning and has devised various strategies to increase the involvement of students in their learning journey by using new tools and teaching pedagogies. Regular Micro teaching sessions within departments helps in strong collaborative ties between the faculty members along with strengthening the course content of every member.

Every year the school arranges for a 15-day Crash Course for Board classes, Grades 10 & 12, in the month of Jan/Feb for revision and recapitulation of concepts and for a comprehensive preparation of the students going for the Board exams. Regular Remedial classes are held on all working Saturdays for doubt clearing and revision of concepts.

Adolescence is the period of the decisive last battle fought before maturity in which the ego must achieve independence; the old emotional ties must be cast off before the new ones are created. It aims at young people to help them make sense of their feelings, behaviours and thoughts and also entailed the use of unique techniques to face such adversities. Adolescence can be a time of turmoil and turbulence, of stress and storm. It is a period of rapid physical and biological changes, which may lead to confusion, tension, frustration, feeling of insecurity, rebellion against authority and convention is to be expected and tolerated for the sake of learning and growth. This phase is of both an impulsive child and a self-starting adult. Ideas of promoting open lines of communication proved to be very productive through her commendable narratives. “Beauty is temporary and change is mandatory”, keeping a track of this notion. The session onto the psychological impact of physical changes such as mood swings, being conscious and over-sensitive. To have a clear set of thoughts and not to indulge in any act of immorality or targeting one’s integrity or self-respect. This session alleviated young children as well as teenagers to cope with various psychological and emotional traumas that are affecting their wellbeing. The school lays a lot of importance on working in close collaboration with the parents. Regular Parent Teacher interactions are organised to share their concerns, feedback and suggestions. 

PHYSICAL WELL-BEING ACTIVITIES & SPORTS

The Senior School boasts of state-of-the-art sports infrastructure and very well-qualified and experienced coaches for training students for various sports and preparing them for competitions at various levels. The physical well-being of the students is an important aspect of the overall curriculum of the school.

The School has a well-built infrastructure for various sporting activities and provides a lot of indoor and outdoor sports facilities. It has a huge field and it’s used for many sports/games such as football, cricket, volleyball, archery and covered basketball and lawn tennis court. The school has a simulator based Golf court.

Indoor sports facilities include Table tennis, chess, carom, yoga and 10-meter shooting range. The school has a team of qualified coaches and physical education teachers for all above mentioned games.

The Senior School Sports faculty is involved in organizing Inter -clan competitions in the school for developing interest in Sports activities and making students fitter and healthier.Our school students have been participating and winning at district, state and national level tournaments.

The students also actively participated in “Khelo India’ school games and got various positions. Senior School also conducts a fitness assessment program for students on a regular basis. MRIS is also associated with Fit India Program run by Government of India, and is fit India 3-star school.

Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, but also it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity. To illume the prospect of a healthy verve and psyche, Manav Rachna International  School, Ludhiana invited  Mr. Edmundas Daubaras, a Member of the United Nations Organization, President of the World Fitness Federation (W.F.F.), Mr. Lalit Kumar Soni, Director of the teaching programmes at the I.S.U, President of the “Regina Welfare Cancer Association International” recommended by Mr. Sandeep Tyagi, founder member of Everest Yoga Institution. The esteemed resources adorned young buds regarding the utmost implication of being physically and mentally fit to excel in cut-throat competitions. Through their much-acknowledged session, students get to know that Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness. The interpretation of physical fitness is the attainment and maintenance of a uniformly developed body with a sound mind fully capable of naturally, easily, and satisfactorily performing our many and varied daily tasks with spontaneous zest and pleasure. Health can be defined as a holistic way of the growth of the human body and mind. A healthy person’s body is in comprehensive harmony with his mind. We can practice the art of health and wellness by keeping in mind that our bodies are made of living tissues. Those tissues require nutrition to grow, and the food we eat is directly responsible for the nutrients that reach our tissues and make us capable of advancements. 

REGULAR HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT

The Schools aids and supports regular training of teachers by sending them for Capacity Building programmes and workshops, in house trainings and workshops and involving them in various social and cultural platforms as well. The school has successfully organised workshops for teachers on the following topics-

Even in class XII and the meticulous students of Manav Rachna International School, Ludhiana once again ascertained their mettle by showcasing laudable performance. The marks of Semester 1, Semester 2 and Project (Internal Assessment) have been added by the Council and the result is proclaimed on the basis of this computation of marks. Total 36 candidates took AISSCE Board examination and the school has got a 100% pass percentage. Bhavya kalra of Commerce stream secured First Position by scoring 96.8 per cent marks.
