Manav Rachna International School, Mohali celebrated the festival of Lohri with a lot of zeal and fervour through a special assembly. The celebrations began with the traditional Punjabi folk song “Dulha Bhatti wala” highlighting the importance of the festival.
A bonfire was lit in the school premises to mark the beginning of winter solstice. The students from different grades performed the traditional folk dance, recited poems and sang the famous Lohri song and had a gala time celebrating the auspicious festival. Prayers were offered for good health and prosperity. The students were totally absorbed in the festive spirit of Lohri.
Mrs Taruna Vashisht, Principal of the school wished everyone luck and happiness for the coming year. She emphasized that Lohri festival prompts people to be thankful for God’s provision and encouraged teachers to play a vital role to keep the tradition and culture alive in today’s youth.
