Lohri Celebration

Lohri is the harvest festival of Punjab, known as the “Wheat Bowl”- bread-basket state of India. This festival is celebrated to mark both celebration and sharing.

Manav Rachna International School, Ludhiana celebrated Lohri in the school premises today with a lot of exuberance and funfare. The mood on the campus was upbeat and the students were totally absorbed in the festive spirit of Lohri. The function started with a special assembly highlighting the importance of the festival, which ushers in the cheerful spring season bidding adieu to the dull winter. Students depicted the festival through themed poems, folk songs and dance performances.

The students and teachers celebrated this festival together by singing songs and tapping their feet to the beat of the dhol immersed in rich cultural folklore of Punjab. Groundnuts and Popcorns were distributed among the students.

Dr. Rupali Saini, Principal of the school lit the sacred bonfire to initiate the celebration congratulating all and dwelled on the importance of such festivals.
