“Thousands of candles can be lighted with a single candle.”
The nip in the air and the dazzling lights all around for our most favourite festival- Diwali fill us with euphoria as we look forward to embracing each one with love and celebrate togetherness of humanity. At MRIS Charmwood, we strongly believe in being attached to our roots and thus celebrate each occasion with zeal and fervour. We also use these opportunities to inculcate values and innovate the learning process for our children.
The tiny tots of Early Years & Grade 1 and teachers came together to share their Diwali stories and talked about green Diwali followed by a reflection activity. Students also got the chance to upcycle various materials, including old CDs, bangles, and other recyclable items, to craft unique wall hangings. This activity not only encouraged artistic expression but also reinforced the importance of reusing and reducingwaste. Simultaneously, they decorated earthen diyas with vibrant colours and designs, infusing them with their creativity. Children also cleaned and organized their classrooms emphasizing on the importance of a fresh and clean start, both in our physical surroundings and in our lives. Learners from Primary Wing celebrated the spectacular and bedazzling festival of Diwali with great joy by making edible diyas, using golgappas, lemon tart shells, canopy shells and much more.
Learners of Grade IV and V did toran and lantern making activity using sustainable materials. Children of Middle Wing made rangoli with flowers and decorated diyas for their family members. The pinnacle of our Diwali week celebration was marked by a Diwali assembly. Teachers delivered insightful talks about the significance of an eco-friendly and green Diwali, emphasizing the need to celebrate this festival while being mindful of the environment. This resonated with the students and encouraged them to think about sustainable ways to enjoy the festivities. The assembly also featured a lively dance performance, symbolizing the joy and enthusiasm that Diwali brings. Students were dressed in ethnic wear, showcasing the Indian culture. It was a week that instilled in our students a deeper understanding of the spirit of Diwali, and the importance of preserving our environment while celebrating its radiance.
The Diwali fiesta reminds us to sparkle and glow. The school was lit up with smiles of our gleaming stars that added flavour to the festive season.
