The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a pioneer in worldwide education fostering young minds with a vision of creating future leaders who are inquisitive, self-reliant, and compassionate individuals. The programmes are designed in such a way that lets children take charge of their learning and growth with a view of making a difference and prospering in an ever-changing world.

Formerly known as the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, and founded in 1968 offers one of the finest educational programmes which are suited to all the needs of children aged 3 to 19.

Manav Rachna Educational Institutions have always been believed to be the center of creative education combined with the cutting-edge technology which makes us stand out in these changing times. Keeping in line with the vision of the Founders, the Institution has embarked upon another journey of excellence. This journey commences with setting up an International Baccalaureate School in the city of Faridabad. Therefore, we can proudly state that Manav Rachna is paving the way for gratifying the desire for knowledge through a global approach.

What makes International Baccalaureate (IB) unique?

The International Baccalaureate (IB) is considered to be unique for various reasons:

  1. Holistic Approach: The IB aims to enhance the overall personality of the learners not just their academic abilities and achievements. This can be achieved by focusing on their emotional, mental and physical well-being along with academic excellence.
  2. International Presence: The IB is an internationally recognized educational programme that encourages students to appreciate different cultures, values and perspectives. This is usually achieved through the inclusion of global issues and the learning of multiple languages.
  3. New-age Curriculum: The IB offers a challenging curriculum that is designed to prepare students for success in higher education and beyond. This system of education is known to provide high academic standards and global outreach to students.
  4. Emphasis on Critical Thinking: The IB enables the children to think critically and creatively, explore different opportunities and reflect on themselves. It also helps them to analyze, evaluate and synthesize information.
  5. Community of Learners: The IB community consists of students, teachers, and schools from all over the globe who share a commitment to education and a desire to bring positive change in the education system. This sense of community and a shared purpose is a key aspect of IB schools.

The International Baccalaureate primarily offers four programmes of education:

  1. The Primary Years Programme (PYP) for students aged 3 to 12

The PYP aims to provide a teaching framework that is completely driven by research, interdisciplinary, and focuses on the conceptual knowledge of the learners. The objective is to nurture young minds to develop them into active participants in the journey of learning. The PYP programme is believed to be an extensively used teaching practice all over the world which prepares learners to respond to the challenges and demands of the quickly changing environment. The Curriculum majorly stresses on individual learning capabilities of the children, making them confident and active participants in society, thereby impacting their lives and the people who are around them.

The sole vision of the PYP Programme is to make children grow with knowledge, and skills and increase their understanding of fundamental concepts by tapping on their energies and potential and providing them with relevant education.

  1. The Middle Years Programme (MYP) for students aged 11 to 16

The MYP is a programme for students between 11 – 16 years of age. MYP aims to decrease the gap between studies and the real world at an early age. The programme encourages students to create and understand the link between their study at school and various aspects of the real world.

To achieve this goal, the MYP curriculum has carefully designed eight subject groups comprising a broad and balanced education for a student focusing on flexibility and balance.

  1. The Diploma Programme (DP) for students aged 16 to 19

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is designed for students between the age group of 16 – 19. The programme aims to provide in-depth knowledge to students to make them flourish in every way. The curriculum of the Diploma Programme includes six subject groups and different courses in each subject group. The Diploma Programme is designed in a way which enables students to reflect on their knowledge, undertake a project and conduct research independently.

  1. The Career-related Programme (CP) for students aged 16 to 19

A distinctive Career-Related programme for students who are in the final years of school years. ( 16-19 age group ) The goal of the programme is to make students well-equipped with skills and transform them into future-ready individuals. The Programme focuses on providing practical and real-world education by bridging the gap between academic subjects and the professional interests of students.

In the Career-Related programme, students develop both personal and professional qualities and inculcate habits which are essential for a lifelong journey of learning.

Therefore International Baccalaureate (IB) is known for its focus on developing critical thinking, communication, and intercultural understanding in students. The DP, in particular, is highly respected by universities around the world and is often seen as a challenging and comprehensive pre-university course of study.
