“Health is a state of mind of complete harmony of the body, mind, and spirit.”

Yet most of us associate health as a state of just physical well being. The fact is that we can truly be healthy and happy only when we care for ourselves physically, mentally and spiritually. Thus, the three are connected to each other and are in sync with each other. So while most of us battle stress in our daily lives, we must remember to take a few simple steps for our overall wellness.

As educators and parents, we must also inculcate these life skills in our students/children right from an early age:

– Cut out negativity from your mind; try to think positive.

– Stress drains you physically, emotionally and spiritually. Thus, don’t worry about things you can’t change.

– Eat healthy meals on time; make nourishment your priority.

– Walk, cycle, jog, skip and do yoga for 30 minutes for at least five days a week.

– Drink lots of water to remove toxins from your system.

– Get a minimum of seven hours of sleep so that you are charged up for the next day.

– Take breaks from your schedule. Go for dinner, watch movies, cook, do gardening, read a book and spend time with family and friends.

Remember the most important person in your life is “You”. The key to your wellbeing lies in your hands and it’s never too late to make a positive start.
