Visit to Bookaroo Children’s Literature Festival

‘From the reading of good books, there comes a richness of life that can be obtained in no other way.’- Gordon B. Hinckley

To acquire the habit of reading and to ignite the fire of imagination and curiosity, the students of Grade V and VI of MRIS-14, Faridabad obtained a golden opportunity to discover the contemporary books written by a few celebrated authors at the ‘Bookaroo Children’s Literature Festival’ organized by the Bookaroo team at Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts, New Delhi. The students got the proud privilege to experience an array of literary programmes, publisher’s dialogues, children’s activities and the most thrilling and awaited book exhibition.

The literary event was broadly classified into two sessions. The first session enabled the children to enter the world of deep insights and thoughts to wonder how living and non- living things like birds, drone and planes are able to fly high. The second session ‘Globetrotters’ helped the students ponder over how different species of animals survive in the toughest of weather conditions. The students deeply engrossed themselves in the presentation.

As the saying goes, ‘Books are uniquely portable magic.’ The students experienced the true magic of reading, browsing through books and engaging themselves in several literary activities. The event indeed turned out to be an appetizer for developing good reading skills in all the students and generated in them further a passion and love for reading. The feeling of spending a day with these precious possessions and experiencing the fascinating world of books was quite an enriching experience.
