Guided Reading Activity

“There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate’s loot on Treasure Island.” – Walt Disney

Young budding readers at the school were involved in ‘Guided Reading’ activity. The students were divided into small groups to read the same book. They read aloud together pointing their fingers from left to right. It was a wonderful experience to see students trying to read by blending and segmenting words using their phonic knowledge. The activity helped the students in establishing fundamental skills necessary for proficient reading, improving attention to detail, building fluency, expanding vocabulary knowledge and developing reading comprehension skills.
