‘Plant Processes’ Activity

‘Plant Processes’ Activity

While teaching the concept of plants, our tiny tots carried out hands on activities to grasp the concept of ‘water travelling from the root through stem and up to the flower’. The children loved mixing edible colors in water and placed white carnations in the same. The activity continued to the next day when they came back and discovered that the carnations had imbibed the color of the water.  Next, the string of activities was continued by sowing seeds in the pots. The facilitators, along with the help of school gardeners, helped them in sowing real seeds in four different pots. The little ones kept out two pots in the sunlight and two under shade. They are now noticing and looking forward to the changed patterns in their growths.

The tots then collectively created a craft depicting plants and their needs (sunlight, air, water and soil) to exhibit their learning outcome.
