The challenges of parenting in the 21st Century have changed, some things have become more complex, while on the other hand, some things have eased up, but the process remains dynamic! A Workshop on Parenting in 21st Century was held at MRIS-Sector 14, Faridabad which aims to reaffirm our role as providing the guidance and support in this journey of parenting.  The workshop began by seeking the blessings of the Almighty and lightning of the ceremonial lamp. The speaker Dr. Geetika Kapoor and Guest of Honour, Dr. Chavi Bhargava Sharma, Executive Director and Dean- Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences, MRIIRS were accorded a green welcome by the Principal, Ms. Mamta Wadhwa.

The speaker of the workshop, Dr. Geetika Kapoor is the Founder and Director EdEssential (Nationally Certified School Psychologist) USA. She is one of the very few trained school psychologists in India. She deliberated on issues of explosion of technology in today’s times and how to help children deal with constant overstimulation. She also laid stress that it is very important for parents to take care of themselves. Dr. Chavi Bhargava Sharma emphasized that good parenting is about being yourself and giving the best as children.

The Principal took inspiration from Sadhguru and stated that children are not cattle and herd to be reared but human beings who have to be guided and nurtured. She also emphasized on growing as parents along with our children, as parenting is hands-on training. The parents raised a lot of concerns regarding their children which were answered beautifully by the speakers. The parents found the session very thought-provoking and stimulating.
