World Cancer Day was observed at MRIS, Noida today. The day was dedicated to raise awareness among the female staff members about Breast Cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection and treatment. The workshop was conducted by Dr. Rajinder Kaur Saggu, a Surgical Oncologist at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi. Dr. Rajinder is also the Founder Chairperson of Guru Nanak Cancer Care Trust, a charitable organization working towards cancer prevention and treatment especially for the needy.
The teachers were apprised about the symptoms of breast cancer and its risk factors, methods of early detection and step by step self-diagnosis followed by an interactive session where the queries of the teachers were answered by the benevolent resource person. Ms. Anandita, a cancer survivor also shared her inspirational story and motivated the staff members to be self-aware and hopeful.
The event culminated with the distribution of alluring ribbon logo key chains and a book ‘Moving On…..’ authored by Dr. Rajinder herself.
