Aryabatta’s running the canteen for a day!!!
Manav Rachna International School, Noida celebrated Maths week from 17th December, 2018 to 21st December, 2018 with a great concept. The Maths Department planned a lot of activities (day wise) for the students of different grades. On 19th December, 2018, the students of Grade 7 and 8 were given a task to run the school canteen.
The students were asked to maintain a record book which was later used to calculate the GST of the food items sold to the customers. The students did this task in groups of 6 each. They were asked to sell their food items (Pizza, Cheese puffs, Combo meal, Sandwich, Aloo patty, Paneer patty, Soft drinks, Tea and Coffee) and maintain records for each item. Ms. Nindiya Saket, Principal of MRIS, Noida also witnessed the students working as vendors in the cafeteria. She was seen buying eatables by paying GST and buying coupons. It was an excellent way to teach the students- time management, calculating GST on food items, maintaining records etc.
A lot of other students were seen asking for discounts but the vendors managed their accounts well and convinced their customers. The hustle and bustle kept everyone captive. It was a hard earned meal for all the students. Later, the records were checked and three teams were awarded for their efforts and accurate calculations.
The day was full of challenges, calculations and excitement to sell as much as possible for profits.
