The celebration of Van Mahotsav Week at MRIS, Mohali was an ideal opportunity to instill personal and social responsibility in our students towards safeguarding trees and forests. An online awareness campaign on the importance of trees was organised. The focus of these celebrations was to have a personal connect between the students and trees through a process of experience, reflection and creation. To celebrate the Festival of trees called Van Mahotsav, primary students participated in various activities conducted in a weeklong event. Few of the activities to mention were writing poems, essays on tress, designing graphic and handmade posters on ‘Save Trees’. Students enthusiastically participated clicking photographs of themselves with trees and writing their names after their own in the ‘Tree ID challenge’. Quiz on trees enhanced the knowledge of our young learners, last but not least planting saplings of trees and naming the tree after their own implanted the feeling of belongingness.
