If there is a change one wishes to see then they must take the initiative to bring it into force. The students of MRIS-51, Gurugram, have become torch bearers of save the environment crusade and they don’t plan to slow down any time soon. The students from Grade 1 onwards crafted paper, jute and cloth bags to take plastic bags out of use.

It doesn’t stop at just crafting the bags, the students from Grade 4 onwards took over public spaces like markets and malls with their jute and cloth bags, and distributed them among people. They will keep in touch with the person who takes the bag and encourage them to use it.

The students from Grade 1 to 3 crafted paper bags which they distributed among their neighbours with a promise to use these bags. The bags were beautifully decorated by writing slogans about saving the environment.

The children have also started saying ‘Say No to Plastic’ every time they greet someone. It will be a constant reminder that one must not use plastic items. The MRIS-51 campus has also declared itself a ‘No Single Use Plastic Zone’.

The recent speech by Greta Thunberg has created a ripple effect and even our kids are affected by it. We all have joined forces to give this planet the respect it deserves.
