National Mathematics Day

“Pure Mathematics is, in its own way, the poetry of logical ideas.”

MRIS, Ludhiana continues with its interminable effort of making learning an enjoyable zone for the students. The school apprises the children with the current happenings around them on a daily basis. National Mathematics Day was celebrated in the school campus on 20th December 2019 in the fond memory of Srinivasa Ramanujan, the most renowned Mathematician.

Without Mathematics, there is nothing you can do. Everything around you is Mathematics and numbers. With an objective of enriching and educating the students, numerous activities were organized for the EY and pre-primary students. Grade EY made a yummy cookie wherein the children were asked to sit in a group of 4.

They were asked to place choco chips (in the form of clay) on the cookies made on laminated cards, they drew different shapes using rubber on the Geoboard (eg: square, rhombus, oval), performed addition through a Bead activity. Grade I was acquainted with ‘Magical fingers’ as they did addition and subtraction worksheet with the count of fingers, Grade II- performed ‘Bingo’ wherein they omitted the number whose mathematical operation was comprehended by them and Grade III was given the pro forma of a Cheque book to make them aware of the banking system, various steps involved in it, cash deposit and withdrawal.

The ‘Maths Genie’ badge was given to the students who executed these activities successfully.
