‘Leaf Skeleton’ Activity

“Keep on experimenting,

Keep on exploring

Keep on evolving ….”

Education is a fun-filled process where a child explores Pandora box of cognizance and paints his own fins of creativity. We, at Manav Rachna International School, Ludhiana believe in nurturing our tiny-tots by polishing their creative ability. With respect to their ongoing theme, an activity ‘Leaf Skeleton’ was conducted for students of Nursery and KG. Skeleton leaves are beautiful and ornate. They are often used in decorating scrapbooks, art related projects and other decorative items.

In the activity, children dipped the leaves in a tray filled with water. The water was changed frequently as it got rancid quickly. Under the able guidance of their mentors, children watched pulp fall out of the leaves and observed the delicate vascular structure with the help of microscope, and the leaf skeleton were pasted in the CREST files. Various parts of leaf like midrib and veins were introduced. The experiment took almost 2-3 weeks in its conclusion.

Principal Ms. Anju Dhawan appreciated the efforts of the young learners and motivated them to become critical observers and skilled learners and strive to do better always.
