Inclusion is a belief system. It begins with the belief that every child has strengths to build upon, interests to share and experience to honour.

The Special Education Department of MRIS-46 hosted a workshop for the regular teachers of various schools under GPSC, keeping the doctrine of inclusion in view. The purpose of the workshop was to give regular teachers an insight into the mind of a child with special needs. Well experienced Special Educators of the SEN Department in MRIS-46 touched upon the most prevalent learning disorders like ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), Dyslexia, Dysgraphia and Dyscalculia.

It was emphasized that each child is capable of learning with the right approach to teaching and it is the right of every child to be given an opportunity to learn. It was reiterated that the learning styles in different children are different and there is a need of flexibility to make the learning happen.

It was an interactive session wherein various case studies were discussed by the participating teachers along with the strategies to handle children with various special needs. The key points taken up were the need to invite others to join, normalize the environment, commit to inclusive practice, lead by example, uncover strengths and talents, differential activities and encourage interaction.

The participating teachers found the workshop interesting, informative, interactive and highly beneficial as it gave them thoughtful insights into the minds of the special needs children.
