“Bibliotherapy” workshop for parents was organized by Library of MRIS-46, Gurugram with Special Education Needs (SEN) Department of the school recently. This was an endeavor to encourage and train parents to use literature as a therapy to improve mental health. Use of stories for guided reading was discussed throughout the session. Guest speaker, Ms. Sonia Bareja demonstrated Bibliotherapy as the process of dynamic interaction between the personality of the reader and literature. During her session, she told how to deal with specifically diagnosed or identified mental health concerns through literature. Library and SEN Department shared their experiences of using literature to support good mental health. Parents were excited and expressed a desire to attend more sessions on Bibliotherapy.
