“A learning curve is essential to growth.”
We, at Manav Rachna, believe that education does not comprise merely of academics, but also awareness and life skills that go hand-in-hand to create better human beings. Our initiative of value based learning in the Early Years through the ‘Big Projects’, which are in correlation with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals has picked up momentum. Their first Big Project is based on ‘Why is it important to save electricity and water?’ The second Big Project is regarding ‘Responsible Production and Consumption of Paper’.
In order for the teachers to do justice to the teaching-learning process at school, the teachers of kindergarten visited Tissues Factory to find out how a paper mill functions. The company deals with manufacturing and distribution of tissue paper, toilet rolls, face tissues etc. The teachers witnessed the various intricacies of processing paper into paper goods. Main purpose of visiting the factory was to see the manufacturing process. Teachers got a practical view of how machines are used in paper production. Binding and packaging units were also shown to the teachers. The manufacturing process in the factory was manual as well as automatic. Teachers were explained how the factory has created sustainable livelihood in rural areas as well and has helped in generating employment especially for women to earn their livelihood. This learning will enable teachers to impart learning to students in a better way. It was an enriching learning experience.
