‘Poetry is the rhythmical creation of beauty in words’.
When this rhythmical formation is injected with some humor, it becomes even more effective in addressing even the most serious matters in a lighter state of mind, yet not losing the true value of the poet’s views and thoughts.
To develop appreciation and to spread the fragrance of humorous poetry among the students of Grade V, ‘Inter-Class Hindi Hasya Kavita Spardha’ was held at MRIS-14 Faridabad. Keeping the various aspects of poetry, the participants came up with the poems of famous Hindi poets. Four participants were selected from each class on the basis of their talent in poetry recital. In the final round, the participants gave a tough competition to each other as the recitals excelled in rhythm, mood, diction and expressions. They were judged on parameters like confidence, content, voice modulation, comical effect and overall presentation. Not just the winners, but also the other participants were applauded and praised for showcasing their capability in oratory skills through the mode of humorous poems.
The students chose appropriate topics and effectively put forward the poet’s perspectives with confidence and conviction.
As Robert Frost says, “Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found its words”. Thus, the competition provided itself as a fruitful tool of expression and medium to bring out the latent talents of the budding orators.
