It is human nature that we value things only when they are scarce or are in short supply. As the saying goes ‘We never know the true value of water, until the well is dry’, our water resources have now entered an era of scarcity. The increasing demands on freshwater resources by our burgeoning population and diminishing quality of existing water resources have led to a situation where the consumption of water is rapidly increasing and the supply of fresh water remains more or less constant.

Water conservation is the need of the hour. So, when it comes down to it, every drop that can be conserved will only help us all out in the long run. With the sole motive of promoting water conservation and realizing how valuable this blue gold is to Mankind, the students of Grade IV and V created their working models of rain water harvesting under the Annual Project- Clean Water and Sanitation (UNSDG’s Goal Number 6).

They were sensitized about the alarming rate of the water crisis in their very own industrial hub of Haryana- Faridabad, in the adjoining cities and the prevalent situation around the globe. They were also given the opportunity to witness the working of the rain water harvesting model present in their own school premises under the guidance of the field instructor and their teachers. They finally demonstrated their understanding of the entire process of replenishing the groundwater through their 3D models which were a perfect amalgamation of their creativity in using best out of waste and sensitivity towards the issue of the water crisis.
