Anish Bhanwala, Manav Rachna student receives Rashtriya Bal Puraskar from the President of India!

For achieving remarkable feats in various fields like Innovation, Scholastic, Sports, Art, Culture, Social Service and Bravery; 26 children were awarded with the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2019 by Sh. Ramnath Kovind, Hon’ble President of India at the Rashtrapati Bhawan yesterday evening.

Anish Bhanwala, ace shooter and a class XI student at Manav Rachna International School-Charmwood was bestowed with the prestigious honour for his unmatched international accomplishments (at such a young age) in the sport of Shooting. The award carries a medal; a cash prize of Rs. 1 lac; book vouchers; a certificate and a citation. Anish Bhanwala will also participate in the Republic Day Parade on January 26 this year.

Anish has been a part of the Indian Shooting Team since 2017. He has represented India at the 2018 Commonwealth Games,ISSF Junior World Championship 2017 (Suhl),Common Wealth Shooting Championships 2017 (Brisbane), ISSF World Cup 2018 (Guadalajara) and ISSF Junior World Cup 2018 (Sydney).

In Commonwealth Games 2018, Anish won a gold medal for India and became the youngest Indian to win a gold medal in Commonwealth Games at an early age of 15 years. Anish practices regularly at the Manav Rachna Shooting Academy.

The awardees were selected from a total of 900 applications received through a special portal created for the purpose. The winners were selected through a rigorous process of critical analysis by a committee comprising of experts from varied disciplines like Sociology, Psychology, Mathematics, Science, Art, Music, and Sports etc. The final selection was made by the National Selection Committee; under the chairpersonship of Smt. Maneka Gandhi, Hon’ble Minister for Women and Child Development, GoI.
