“Change is the only constant in life.” – Heraclitus
Manav Rachna International School strongly believes in changing with the times and always strives to provide an advanced academic platform to its students. Recently, the school has ignited curiosity and excitement amongst its students, teachers, and parents by introducing CREST.
CREST is a highly-engaging, integrated global-studies curriculum for Grades 1 to 5 (Developed specifically for MRIS). The new approach has given students a new dimension and allowed them to develop their concepts after thoroughly understanding the topic. The smart classes have incorporated the best state-of-the-art technology in an ever-changing digital environment to enable students to access information and take their learning to another level.
The books are carefully designed to impart knowledge and information at the specific levels for specific age groups. The idea is not to teach, but for students to explore and enhance their skills so that they can apply the knowledge in their day-to-day life and situations. It is only through exploring that students can actually reason things and try to gain a perspective of their own to tackle various situations and apply their knowledge of the subject effectively.
The new approach of science in the form of CREST allows children to learn effective skills like observing, inferring and experimenting. The key to learning science effectively is by ‘inquiring’. Now students in our school are actively engaging in inquiry and this is helping them to describe objects and events, ask questions, put up explanations, test and verify those explanations against current scientific knowledge and also share their ideas with others. Students can now identify their assumptions, independently use critical and logical thinking and reflect upon alternative explanations. This has helped the 21st-century learner to actively develop their understanding of science by combining scientific knowledge with reasoning and thinking skills. Teachers can now enable students to use evidence to form an explanation; connect that explanation to existing knowledge, and communicate that evidence-based explanation.
Gone are the days when the students used to learn all the information provided in their books without asking any questions. Critical thinking is the need of the hour and students at Manav Rachna International Schools are encouraged to think using evidence to create solutions and make decisions. The two essential skills that students learn through CREST are problem-solving and critical thinking because we, at Manav Rachna, believe that they are essential to making good decisions that lead to achievement and success during and after school.
Students are happy to learn, create, execute and evaluate their learning. In this way, CREST is one of the most important subjects students study, because it gives them critical thinking skills.
