MRIS 46 can rightfully boast of having a passionate Librarian in Dr Chhavi Jain. Dr Jain manages a large, multilingual library and supports 1100 children aged 6-17 years. She is breaking barriers and raising the profile of school librarians in India with her innovative and rigorous approach.

Her recent article titled ‘Stimulating the Reading Habit’ which has featured in the November issue of ‘Teacher Plus’ Magazine is another feather in her cap. The article vividly emphasizes the crucial role of family and home environment in the scholastic achievement of children, reading for pleasure and different strategies to promote reading habit like book talk, showing an online trailer before initiating book discussion, giving interest-based reading recommendations, apprising students about popular and award-winning books etc. She opines that properly customized intervention is essential to change students’ perspective about books and reading combined.
