We, at MRIS, believe in inculcating the habit of reading right from the Early Years. Reading not only acts as a precursor to writing, it also broadens the horizons of learning and understanding life better; and what better way to celebrate the World Book Giving Day with the students. 14th Feb is the date International book giving Day. It’s a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly) it’s a celebration of reading. In fact, it’s the biggest celebration of its kind, designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and marked in over 44 countries all over the world. Students were also explained why it is important to be in the company of book to become knowledgeable, wise and humble. The day culminated with the children talking about their favorite books and sharing it with their peers.
In this pursuit we took the students of Grade V to the school adopted by Dr O.P. Bhalla foundation at Mohna Village today. They interacted with the students of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Mohna .They talked about the importance of Reading and distributed books, which helped inculcate the virtue of sharing in them. The teachers spoke about the importance of books in our lives and the impact that reading has. The visit was an enriching and fulfilling experience.
