The students of MRIS-51, Gurgaon, performed outstandingly in All India Asteroid Search Campaign (AIASC) by making the Provisional Discovery of an asteroid as part of AIASC 2016. Two participants, Pravesh Narang and Mihika Agarwal of the school successfully completed the Provisional Discovery during All India Asteroid Search Campaign (AIASC) Phase I as a part of the SPACE programme. AIASC Phase I started from June 27, 2016 till July 25, 2016. During this time students downloaded and analyzed the data themselves on their computers and sent the reports of their observation to the international coordinators and SPACE in collaboration with International Astronomy Search Collaboration (IASC),USA.

A Provisional Discovery is a confirmed and formally recognized asteroid discovery as endorsed by international agencies concerned, which has the highest value among all. The Students and the School will be felicitated on a common platform after the completion of the All India Asteroid Search Campaign 2016 during a felicitation ceremony later in the year at SPACE Annual Meet.
