2nd October, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was celebrated by all the students of Manav Rachna International School, Mohali in the Morning Assembly. A presentation on the life of Mahatma Gandhi was shown to the students remembering his role in the independence struggle. As personal hygiene was the part of Bapu’s Satyagraha Campaign, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was launched by our Prime Minister on 2nd October 2014. To promote this drive, a committee of Cleanliness Ambassadors of ten students from Grade 1 to 7 was formed and introduced. The badges for the same were also given to the students by the Principal Mrs. Taruna Vashisht. She enlightened the students about inspirational life of Mahatma Gandhi.
Students of Annual Project “Community Connect” from Grade 4 to 7 went to the adopted school at Papri village to raise awareness about cleanliness. The visit also witnessed patriotic poem recitation by students of both the schools. The students of MRIS apprised the students of Government primary school, Papri about the importance of cleanliness. The visit culminated with a plantation drive, wherein different saplings were planted in the adopted school. The children exchanged stationery items and packets of biscuits with each other.
There was a cleanliness drive in the school campus wherein students participated enthusiastically by cleaning their classes and the school campus.
