Nursery kids made self-portraits using clay

At the onset of the theme ‘This is Me’, Nursery children were introduced to various body parts through different rhymes, actions and self-exploration while looking into the mirror. They could count two eyes, one nose, one mouth, two hands, two legs and much more. As an expression of their understanding, they made self-portraits using clay/play dough. Children rolled and pressed the clay into desired shapes to make their best creation. This simple clay molding activity turned into great learning with unending enthusiasm and guidance. The touch and feel of clay have a naturally relaxing quality, which helped the children to strengthen their fine motor skills while enjoying the activity.
