The 12th Manav Rachna Under-14 Cricket Challenge Cup 2019 kickstarted at MRIS-46, Gurugram recently. In this annual event, 24 teams across Delhi-NCR are competing against one another for the coveted championship title and trophy. The championship was declared open by Mr. Sarkar Talwar, Director Sports MREI in a small ceremony which was graced by the school Executive Director Mr. Sunny Bansal; and Director Principal Ms. Dhriti Malhotra. Mr. Sarkar Talwar in his address to the aspiring young talent stressed on maintaining the spirit and dignity of the game.

The first day saw the two knockout matches of 20 overs each in the ongoing 12th Under 14 Cricket Challenge Cup 2019 (9th Dec 2019 – 20th Dec 2019).

The first match of the day was played between DPS Aravali and GSSS Civil lines. DPS Aravali won the toss and chose to bat first. DPS Aravali in the 20 overs match set a target of 88 runs at a loss of 10 wickets. GSSS Civil lines chased the target with ease and scored 89 in 5 overs and won the match by 10 wickets. Amit was declared ‘Man of the Match’ for 6 wickets.

The second match of the day was played between DPS Sec-45 and Ambience Safdarjang School. DPS Sec-45 won the toss and elected to bowl first. The batting team set a target of 65 runs at a loss of 10 wickets in 20 overs. DPS Sec-45 chased the target and won by 9 wickets in 20 overs. Rakshit was declared ‘Man of the Match’ for 3 wickets.

Coming days will see 2 knock out matches being played on a daily basis. The final Championship Match will held on 20th December 2019 at Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Gurugram.
