Daredevil-Roller Coaster Making activity

The students designed and built a Marble Run track, in which a marble has to negotiate the track in exactly 10 seconds.

Before starting the design of marble run track, students were taught about the concepts of the roller coaster.

The students understood some new concepts like centripetal force, momentum, inertia, speed, friction and force.

They explored all the factors that were affecting the motion of their marble, by running their marbles of different size in their designed track.

The outcome was that, we can’t change the gravity of any object but we can increase or decrease the friction of the track to complete marble’s journey in exactly 10 seconds.

It was an interesting and enriching activity for the students.
