“Just to travel is rather boring, but to travel with a purpose is educational and exciting”

10 students of MRIS, Charmwood accompanied by their teacher Ms. Jyoti Singla went on a Career Exploratory program to the East Coast, USA from May 28, 2019 to June 8, 2019 where they visited Orlando, New York, Washington DC, and Boston.

Students had a wonderful exposure to the aeronautical industry during their visit to the Kennedy Space Centre and got an opportunity to interact with an astronaut. They got a chance to experience simulations of shuttle launch, and gained insights about the life of an astronaut as they viewed Atlantis exhibits and learned the inside story of the mission to Mars in Orlando. They had a fun-filled day at the Island of Adventures and then at SeaWorld. They visited the capital city of USA, where they visited the National History Museum and had an informative session with tour guides about various famous monuments like the Capitol Hill, Lincoln Memorial, White House and Washington Tower.

The thrill at New York began with a visit to the Statue of Liberty. They learnt about coordination of body, speech and mind as important skills for a career in theatre, at a workshop on theatre at Broadway. First hand exposure to NYC stock exchange and working cultures was given to the students at the Wall Street. They had a visit to United Nations headquarters, where they witnessed an on-going session of the General Assembly.

They were able to explore the campuses of MIT, Harvard, and the Berklee College of Music. They were given a hands-on experience to robotics at a workshop at MIT and climate change workshop at Harvard.

It was an enriching experience for the students with fair mixture of fun, adventure and experiential learning.
