“My drop of tears I’ll turn to sparks of fire.”- William Shakespeare

Manav Rachna International School, Noida took the pride and pleasure in hosting “Masquerade”- a Dance Drama Spoof on Shakespeare stories. Students from 25 different schools from Delhi/NCR participated and were divided into two categories- Junior and Senior. Being the host, MRIS-Noida students presented the spoof as a part of the opening ceremony to welcome the guests and other schools. Ms. Amrita Rai, the celebrity journalist, a renowned News anchor and the wife of famous Rajya Sabha member, Sh. Digvijaya Singh was the Chief Guest of the day. Other dignitaries included Ms. Alka Rai, CBSE books author and a renowned story teller, and Ms. Neha, journalist and an art lover. The participants unfurled the stories of Shakespeare and presented the act in their own, humorous way with a twist.

Everyone did a commendable job as they played actors portraying characters from various plays of Shakespeare. The music, attire, sound effects and narration used in the Pantomime complemented the wonderful performances by the students. Performances were judged on the basis of usage of spoof, team involvement in presentation of theme, costumes, facial expressions, music, voice modulation, body projection and script of the play. Judges were spellbound as they saw stupendous performance of the students. Principal, Ms. Nindiya Saket complimented all the participating teams for their team spirit and thanked the schools for their participation. She shared that the vision behind such a unique concept of the event was to enhance reading and bring back the rich literature of Shakespeare, making the students aware of the varied tales. She also appreciated the schools for the out of the box thinking and producing such creative and amazing dramas.
