Manav Rachna International School, Ludhiana believes that happy teachers create happy classrooms abuzz with the happy giggles of happy students. To help teachers brave the challenges of modern lifestyles and attain peace and happiness, a workshop on Yoga was organized in the school campus where all the teachers along with Ms. Shilpi Gill, Principal, MRIS-Ldh participated with full enthusiasm.

The workshop was an opportunity to take a deep breath and let out all stress. Worrying doesn’t take away tomorrow’s trouble, but it takes away today’s peace. This is what we all are going through in the current scenario of our lives. Each one of us is struggling outside to find the peace inside, but what we forget is; to find that inner peace we need to unplug ourselves for a short while from the outer world. Mr. Sanjeev Tyagi, the professional yoga instructor, conducted the complete workshop along with his team. He helped the teachers perform various poses of Yoga and also explained various benefits of each of them. He explained that Yoga is a way of living to enjoy a healthy mind in a healthy body.

The art of practising Yoga helps in controlling mind, body and soul. It brings together physical and mental disciplines to achieve a peaceful body and mind; it helps to manage stress and anxiety and keeps you relaxed. Everyone in the workshop enjoyed it and realized the benefits of doing Yoga regularly. The ‘Yoga Nidra’ session conducted by him while concluding the workshop was amazing. It can act as restorative as sleep or even much better than sleep. It’s very important to include Yoga Nidra at the end of any asana sequence as the body and mind needs the time to assimilate the effects of the asanas.

All the teachers felt much relaxed and rejuvenated after the session. Ms. Shilpi Gill, Principal, Manav Rachna International School, Ludhiana, while presenting her views remarked that the present lifestyle demands adjustment on the part of every individual. When we fail to make proper adjustment according to the demands of the situation, a state of negative stress or distress develops in our personality, which gives rise to mental or psychological problems. So, by practicing such exercises we can get freedom from negativity and anxiety. Once we are happy and peaceful, we would be empowered to transfer our optimism and happiness to our classrooms. The everyday challenges of school life would be better handled by us once we are at peace.
