Manav Rachna International School, Ludhiana celebrated ‘WORLD PRESS FREEDOM DAY’ in the school premises on the 3rd of May, 2018 to enlighten everyone with the fundamental principles of press freedom and their independence helping each one to critically think on any subject. Adding prominence to the day, Mr. Prabhdeep Singh, DPRO, Dept. of Information & Public Relations presided over the function as the Guest of Honour. The ceremony was further graced by Mr. Bhupinder Singh, Asst. Commissioner, Income Tax Department; Executive Director, MRIS-Gurugram & Ludhiana, Mr. Gaurav Rai; Dr. Roopali Trehan, Director, MRIS Ldh, Dr. Rajinder Trehan, Mr.Jaswant Singh Chappa, and Master Parth Kalra.
The day started with the lighting of the lamp by Mr. Prabhdeep Singh, Mr. Bhupinder Singh and other dignitaries followed by the Gayatri Mantra. Principal Dr. Rupali Saini warmly welcomed all the dignitaries. A welcome dance performance by the students immersed everyone in the spirit of delight. A Power Point Presentation was also displayed to pay gratitude to the Media Fraternity followed by a speech by the students highlighting various aspects of the 21st Century media and how media can be included in the school education.
The esteemed guests from the press shared their experiences by giving a view of the life of a journalist through their words. They shared that every reporter has his own perspective of an event and is motivated to give authentic and genuine information to the people.
The students were full of enthusiasm and zeal which they clearly demonstrated through the Nukkad Natak. The natak portrayed that in spite of the immense pressure that journalists face, they keep on working passionately in the pursuit of the highest ideals of their profession. The programme ended on a positive note as the gathering of commons was deeply satiated by the enriching experience.
