Manav Rachna International School, Ludhiana organized an Edu-trip to Nehru Planetarium for the students of Grades II-V. The Students were given a journal before going to the planetarium, in which they wrote whatever they knew about the space and also penned down their doubts and queries about space.
On reaching the destination, the students and the teachers were taken on a journey of celestial discoveries in the dome shaped Sky theatre. A show was organised in the Sky theatre through which information on constellations like Big Dipper, Ursa Major, Ursa Minor, Great Bear and planets was delivered to the students with the help of visuals like computer animations, cartoons and special effects which were liberally used.
As the lights dimmed and the journey through the stars began, the excitement among the students was overwhelming. The sky came alive on their massive dome theatre. The show was extremely amazing and provided a good visual experience as well as factual knowledge of astronomy. At the end of the show the students were encouraged to ask questions to clarify their doubts. They came back and shared their learning through creative writing. The Students also drew patterns of various constellations they learnt about. It served to be a fruitful learning experience for the teachers and the Students alike.
