The much awaited and loved festival of lights, Diwali, was celebrated with traditional fervour at MRIS 46, Gurugram.
The Students of grade III – Asia, South America, XI- Capitalist and Entrepreneurs presented a special assembly on this festive occasion and apprised the audience about the festival which marks the triumph of light over darkness and the beginning of the Hindu new year. They also highlighted the significance of this important day and spoke about it when Rama, the Hindu God returned to Ayodhya after 14 years in exile, so in honour of his return people decorate their houses with earthen lamps and diya’s and illuminate the sky with fireworks.
The Assembly was clubbed with other festivals of Dhanteras and Bhai Dooj. Students presented a short skit on the celebration of Bhai Dooj wherein they narrated the story of lord Surya and his family. Principal, Mrs Dhriti Malhotra requested the students to have Eco-friendly Diwali and refrain themselves from burning crackers so as to create a clean environment for all living beings.
Students enthusiastically danced on chirpy, rhythmic numbers. The assembly came to a close with prize distribution for students’ achievements in various fields like MUN, sports-shooting and skating, and last but not the least in robotics.
