67 years down the memory lane, on the midnight of 15th August, 1947, the soul of our nation long suppressed found utterance. We at MRIS-14 felt proud to celebrate our 67 years of our freedom. The school organized an ‘Independence Day’ as well as ‘Investiture Ceremony’ as we believe that “Freedom comes with responsibility”.

The esteemed guest for the day Ms. Jasmine Sharma, CJM cum Secretary with District Legal Authority, Faridabad, our Chief Patron, Ms. Satya Bhalla Ji, Executive Director, Ms. Deepika Bhalla were welcomed with the beats of the school band. The programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, the ‘Lamp of Freedom’ with the belief that it would spread the light of patriotism amongst the young generation. The Principal MRIS-14, Ms. Mamta Wadhwa in her address to the gathering welcomed the respected guests and spoke about the value of freedom and the uniqueness of our country.

The students of grade II presented a patriotic song full of zeal which was dedicated to the soldiers guarding our borders away from their families. Ms. Vibha, in her address also compared the life of martyrs with glow worm which inspite of having a very short life span is able to make the night bright.

Investiture ceremony is a momentous moment for any institution. Independence day is the best day to hold such a ceremony as the students of today are the torch bearers of tomorrow. Such responsibilities make them responsible human beings with good leadership qualities. It is rightly said that “Leaders grow they are not made”. The School Head Girl, Head Boy, House Captains, Vice Captains, Captions for Environment, Culture Discipline, Cleanliness, various prefects and linguistic prefects were announced and were given the badges and sashes by the chief guests. The Principal made them take the oath to abide by the school rules, maintain high level of discipline, look after the school property and contribute towards the overall development of the school.

The Chief Guest, Ms. Jasmine herself being a captain in school days was thrilled to be a part of the function. She spoke about the fundamental rights and duties. She asked the students to abide by the laws. She also encouraged them to be the beginners of the trait and to be the light.

It was followed by a heart touching and mesmerizing dance drama depicting the life of martyrs Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev. The performance of the students left the audiences spell bound ad brought tears in many eyes. The patriotic song written and composed by Ms. Ruchi forced the audience to sway with the beats.

Our Chief mentor and guide Ms. Satya Bhalla ji thanked the chief guest and asked the students to follow the words of Ms. Jasmine. She also congratulated all the participants and the teachers for putting up such a wonderful show and guided the students to work with full dedication and loyalty.

The programme concluded with the vote of thanks, delivered by the Vice Principal of MRIS-14, Ms. Geeta Karunakaran. She extended her gratitude to the honored guests and also to one and all present.
