These are unprecedented times, when each individual is impacted in one way or the other – children included. But our bravehearts of MRIS-46 are taking this challenge head-on. And why not? The parents, teachers and children have worked together relentlessly to prepare themselves to take actions which will help in realising our vision of a better universe. Coronavirus is just a phase. And even if it becomes a part of the new normal, our little community of MRIS, sector 46 is committed to take all actions possible at an individual and societal level. The soft skills and life skills sessions provide that platform to the students to deliberate, discuss and to chart out an executable plan of action. 

Staying true to the core of our philosophy and addressing the need of the hour, our online sessions over the last 1.5 months for soft skills and life skills were focused on discussionsabout being mindful, about stress, about gratitude, about identities, about ecological footprints and about health – all of which are also important in our journey towards sustainable development. 

A mask-making activity was conducted under the aegis of Dr. O.P. Bhalla Foundation. The students were encouraged to make cloth masks for their family and for the community. 

Understanding the risks involved in venturing out and the need to go local, which can begin right from our own homes, students learned to grow their own microgreens. This, we are sure, is going to be a part of their life-style now. 

Looking back in time, the preparations undertaken towards the Annual Project exhibition of the junior school and the Projects by the middle school, as a part of their subject enrichment activity, was learning that has shaped all of us as individuals who can address unexpected situations like today and do whatever one can do to within ones limited scope to face the challenges – the soft skills, life skills and the sustainability curriculum has faced the test of time and has surely shown encouraging results.  

It is the innovative and critical thinking along with the skills acquired through various actions like composting (traditional pit composting, leaf composting and vermicompost), the projects by the middle school as a part of their subject enrichment activity, activities which involved boys and girls to design earrings – blurring gender-based identities, a workshop for the junior school on weaving and the intense discussion on the plight of the weavers and the difference between need and greed which equipped our students to come to a point today where they are motivated to do whatever they can do to within their limited scope to face the challenges – the soft skills, life skills and the sustainability curriculum has faced the test of time and has surely shown encouraging results.
