Co-Scholastic Activities
The school maintains a fine balance between Scholastic and Co-Scholastic activities for the holistic development of the students. MRIS 21C accentuates on the learning curve of the students entailing all vital aspects that touch upon their lives; endeavoring to achieving the preparedness level for creating a valuable space in the real world.
Co-scholastic activities are integral to the overall development of students, beyond the confines of academic learning, encompassing a wide spectrum, including sports, arts, cultural events, debates, MUNs, and community service initiatives. Their significance lies in their ability to foster holistic growth by nurturing various facets of a student’s personality.
Firstly, these activities promote physical well-being through sports and fitness programs, instilling healthy habits and active lifestyles from a young age.
Extra Sessions for Sports Before and After School-Hours
The school leaves no stone unturned when it comes to ensuring that our students get the best learning experience in every area, and hence, specialised coaching classes for sports are conducted before and after school-hours to facilitate students with consistent practice in the sport of their choice.
The Spirit of Giving Back to the Community
Aimed at sensitizing students towards the community and the environment, MRIS 21C has entwined thought-provoking activities centred on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the global/national causes into its co-scholastic curriculum.
With a clear objective of preparing the students to comprehend the real challenges of the world and propagating the message into the community about the vital global causes like Save the Stripes, Water Conservation, Respecting the hard-work of the Police officials for the safety of the society et al, our students act as the Ambassador Representatives of the School to contribute in their own little capacities to create awareness.
They are involved in meaningful projects that provide opportunities to explore, observe, research, conductsurveys, investigate, examine, discuss, debate, collaborate and find a solution.
Peer Tutoring
As the name suggests, Peer tutoring is an effective strategy in which students support other students in the learning process which further strengthens the concepts, and most importantly aids in functional, behavioral, and social skills.
Peer tutoring at MRIS 21C doesn’t happen horizontally but vertically across all grades where students from Early Years walks confidently into higher grades to explain their learning and vice versa.
Tree Plantation Tradition
It’s a tradition that fills our heart with pride and satisfaction. Ever since the inception of MRIS 21C School, this tradition of planting a tree on one’s birthday by the students inside the school premises has been traversing year after year with vigor. In addition to their learning journey, the school has been practicing this tradition aiming to instil in them love for Mother Earth and preparing them into a responsible human being.
Creating Aware Citizens
To keep the students abreast with the current affairs and important past events across the region, nation and the globe, a separate session is regularly conducted across all grades to apprise them of the happenings around the world. The delivery of general knowledge sessions is a blend of integration and Project based learning that encompasses a thorough discussion with the students to chisel their logical thinking.
Multilingualism
As soon as the draft of the New Educational Policy 2020 was released, it was made mandatory for the entire team to read, reflect and give feedback upon the changes as well as how those could be incorporated into the current system.
Besides other changes that were brought in, Multilingualism has been integrated into the curriculum, with various activities centred around it at all grade-levels. Infact, it has also been incorporated into our quarterly Newsletter – The MRIS 21C Gazette, which features articles from children in various regional and international languages.
The school’s Student Leadership Programme trains students to take ownership and be responsible by inculcating essential leadership and teambuilding skills in our students. In our endeavour of encouraging responsible leadership, it is now time for the Student Council of the school to be elected.
The Editorial Board
The Editorial Board is responsible for writing and whetting the School’s Newsletter – The MRIS 21C Gazette.
The editorial team with great zeal encourages the students across all Grades to write and express their thoughts or submit their artwork for the School’s Gazette. Once, the editorial board receives the articles or the artwork, they undergo the process of rigorous editing by the students of the editorial board before reaching the desk of the Editorial Committee.
Co-scholastic activities enhance cognitive abilities by challenging students to think critically, solve problems creatively, and make quick decisions, particularly evident in competitive events and academic competitions, besides cultivating social skills and emotional intelligence through teamwork, collaboration, and leadership opportunities.
Furthermore, these activities encourage cultural appreciation and creativity through art, music, dance, and drama. They provide platforms for self-expression and exploration of diverse interests, helping students discover their talents and passions beyond academic achievements.
Overall, co-scholastic activities complement academic education by equipping students with essential life skills, building confidence, and preparing them for future challenges in both personal and professional spheres. They contribute significantly to a well-rounded education that nurtures not only intellectual growth but also emotional, social, and physical development, ensuring students emerge as well-rounded individuals capable of thriving in a dynamic world.
