The CLAN System at MRIS-51: Fostering Community, Leadership, and Holistic Development
At Manav Rachna International School, Sector-51, Gurugram, we believe that a competitive environment nurtures a positive learning atmosphere. To achieve this, our students are divided into four clans, each with its unique motto and set of responsibilities: Air Falcons, Forest Rhinos, Water Sharks, and Wild Cats.
- Air Falcons: Performance, Beauty, and a Higher Vision
- Forest Rhinos: Extreme Power, Nobility, Longevity, and Good Judgment
- Water Sharks: Efficiency, Effectiveness, and Innovation
- Wild Cats: Passion, Generosity, and Loyalty
Students in each clan take on various roles and responsibilities around the school, ranging from maintaining discipline and aesthetics to organizing events and competitions. These activities are aligned with our five core areas: Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Social Responsibility, Literacy & Media, and Sports.
Additionally, students engage with specific United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, raising their awareness of environmental issues, civil society challenges, and more.
The CLAN system at MRIS-51 is aimed at nurturing a sense of belonging and identity at school and promoting vertical collaborations across grades. It is a great opportunity for students to make new friends, explore their interests and talents, and develop leadership skills. The four clans are represented by an environmental element and a mascot, each symbolizing unique strengths. This system integrates academic and co-scholastic verticals, namely, Sports, Literary Media, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, and Sustainable Development.
Verticals change every two months and activities are themed accordingly. Competitions are held within each vertical, promoting healthy competition and skill development. Through these events, students learn the importance of teamwork, enhance their artistic and theatrical skills, and cultivate strong ethical values. The CLAN system fosters collaboration, allows possibilities for student mentoring, and most importantly, builds school spirit.
In essence, the CLAN system at MRIS-51 not only creates a close-knit extended family or community with a common interest but also prepares students to be well-rounded individuals. By promoting a sense of belonging, leadership, and holistic development, we ensure that our students are equipped to face the challenges of the future with confidence and integrity.
