Extempore for Grade VII students

“Public speaking is the art of diluting a two‐minute idea with a two‐hour vocabulary” and it takes a lot more when it comes to an extempore.

As truly called, ‘A speaker’s worst nightmare’, an extempore is a brain boggling situation to put thoughts together and present it in a crisp manner. The key to extempore speaking is that the words spoken are chosen as we speak them in our humdrum life, and what is delivered is a stream of consciousness that is fluent, erudite and articulate, while being unscripted. Students often reveal what they had long hidden, they would be otherwise reluctant to divulge. With this objective, an Extempore Competition was organized at MRIS-14 for the students of Grade VII to enhance their communication skills by not only thinking on their own but also voicing their creative ideas with precision.  They spoke on a variety of topics like education, knowledge, life, happiness, women empowerment, unemployment, entrepreneurship, leadership, culture, freedom, diversity etc. The participants were adjudged on the basis of content, confidence, voice modulation, pronunciation and overall impact. The judges Ms. Diksha and Ms. Minkle were linguists of high profile. First position was shared by Baani Manchanda and Rishabh Yadav. Second position was bagged by Pawni Kulshreshtha and Raina Sethi. Third position was bagged by Aditya Vohra and Aanya. Two students Tvisha Aggarwal and Ashutosh Kumar received special mentions.

Director Principal Ms. Mamta Wadhwa and Vice-Principal Dr. Shalini Bindra addressed the students and guided them to shake off their diffidence and build up their self-confidence.
