Citizens Environment Improvement Society, Noida (CEIS) conducted a workshop at MRIS Noida to instill in students awareness and concern for the environment. The convener Brig. Amrit Kapur, VSM, Vice President (CEIS) addressed the students and spoke about the need to promote, encourage and execute schemes for making the city cleaner and greener. He specially emphasized on why proper management of solid waste through segregation, reduction, reuse and recycling of waste is important. In an interactive session, through audio video aids, he exhorted and encouraged the students to start the initiative of segregating waste at an individual level, i.e to begin with ‘I’ and not ‘us’. It was indeed a very fruitful session during which students learnt about the requirement for the segregation of waste into three separate streams namely biodegradable, non-biodegradable and domestic hazardous waste in order to save the environment for the future.
