MRIS Noida Students Witnessed Opening Ceremony of Khelo India Games

“Sports teach you character, it teaches you to play by the rules, it teaches you to know what it feels like to win and lose, and it teaches you about life.”

The students of Manav Rachna International School, Noida got this golden opportunity as they were invited to witness the inaugural ceremony of Khelo India School Games launched by our revered Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi recently. It is a government initiative with focus on reviving the sports culture at the grassroots and establishing the country in the field of sports.

The ceremony showcased the rich ‘Guru-Shishya’ tradition of the country in a grand style. The gathering was addressed by the Prime Minister where he spread across the message of ‘khelega India khilega India’. He encouraged students to devote time to games as they play a great role in personality development. The cultural event was an amalgamation of some breath taking renditions by various schools across India which was enjoyed thoroughly by all the spectators.

Many eminent personalities were present at the occasion including Delhi Lieutenant Governor Mr. Anil Baijal, Indian Olympic Association President Mr. Narinder Batra, School Games Federation of India President Mr. Sushil Kumar.  The poignant part of the ceremony was the presence of some wonderful and well-known coaches and athletes.

The ceremony inspired the young students to inculcate sports as an indispensable part of their lives and they took a pledge to support Khelo India and bring it to the forefront as the largest sporting movement in the country.
