The more we share information, the more we gain knowledge. With this objective, the concept of ‘Human Library’ was introduced by MRIS Mohali Library. Ms. Monika Mukh Librarian enlightened the students of Grade 4 (Indian Ocean) about the significance of human library. She explained about the traditional libraries where we borrow books we wish to read. At a human library, instead of books, we can “borrow” people. People with unique life stories volunteer to be the “books.” For a certain period of time, we can listen to their stories, which are as engrossing and as fascinating as any, and ask them any question that comes to our mind.

Sometimes we do not have time to go to the library and read books from page to page, but if we are well informed and share our knowledge with our buddies or others, we can even become wonder children. For this, we should meet different people who are known to us and listen to them about their achievements and experience. Though we are reading our textbooks and other paper books, we should create a ‘Human Library’ among us. We can create this concept either in our classrooms or at home and should fix this practice periodically, which helps us to become a change maker and a well-informed citizen.
