Tree Plantation

“The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it.”

Manav Rachna International School, Ludhiana organized a Tree Plantation Drive to sensitize students on the value of tree plantation in order to bring forward the adverse effects of deforestation on our environment. Celebrating Earth Day is about appreciating the uniqueness of our planet Earth, while at the same time, educating ourselves about what we have and what we are losing by acting in ways that aren’t environmentally friendly.

The day started with a Special Assembly seeking the blessings of Almighty followed by the thought of the day highlighting the importance of trees in our lives and need to preserve them. A wonderful play “The Earth Story” was organized by the students of Grade-VII, A that motivated all to keep the planet beautiful as ever followed by a song “This is our world”.

The students planted saplings in and around the school campus placing them in clay pots as well as freshly dug earth with manure all around. Students took keen interest and an overwhelming participation was seen amongst the students. The school gardener offered friendly tips to the students to ensure that each sapling was carefully tended.

Students of the Pre-Primary section were informed about the importance of Earth Day. An innovative ‘Trash Fashion’ parade was organized for them. Students walked the ramp clad in ‘up cycled’ outfits made of old newspaper, paper bowls, plastic, gunny bags, etc. They were told about the importance of trees and recycling. The aim was to sensitize the tiny tots how valuable trees are. The children took turns to speak a few lines conveying the message of keeping our surroundings clean and taking care of the Mother Earth.

Principal Dr. Rupali Saini applauded the adrenaline rush amongst students and encouraged the students to preserve trees which play a vital role in maintaining the ecological balance. She shared a thoughtful message to “End Plastic Pollution” and added that it is the responsibility of every one of us to not only grow trees but also take care and protect them.
