“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it”.

A counseling session was organized for students of Primary school on Child Abuse at MRIS, Ludhiana. The initiative was aimed to empower young students with accurate, age-appropriate and culturally relevant information besides promoting healthy attitudes and developing skills to enable them to respond to real-life situations in positive and responsible ways. The school counselor focused on empowering students about Understanding Feelings, Identifying feelings and connecting them to behavior, Types of abuses, Peer Influences, Safety Bubble, and Safety Rules.

The session included the following elements: teaching skills for self-protection with prospects to practice, instruction in the definitions of abuse and neglect, and the promotion of positive and appropriate interactions between children and adults so that the children are heard. The students felt empowered and imbibed the concept of safety bubble. The school Principal Ms. Anju Dhawan shared pearls of wisdom and gave valuable tips to the children to remain mindful and be focused in their lives
