The importance of physical fitness in today’s fast-paced life cannot be undermined. Playing sports can lead to a harmonious relationship between one’s body and mind, and is a necessity for the growth and development of a child’s personality.

Keeping this in mind, physical education is given a lot of importance at MRIS, Charmwood. The school offers many sports including basketball, badminton, table tennis, taekwondo, gymnastics, shooting, football, cricket, etc. Teams of MRIS, Charmwood have excelled in their respective sports, bringing honour and pride to the institution.

Sports equip children to convert problems into challenges

Sports can teach children the importance of teamwork and can develop leadership qualities. Students become confident, competent and balanced individuals. The feelings expressed below by some of the school’s sportspersons bears testimony to this fact.

Ace shooter and a student of Grade X at MRIS Charmwood, Sanya Sharma says, “Sports has helped me acquire tremendous confidence and has infused in me a feeling of physical well-being.”

Top shooter and a student of Grade X at MRIS Charmwood, Divvya Tomar feels sports has enriched his life, “Playing sports has helped me develop my personality and has made me realize my self-worth.”

Sports teach children to focus on their goals. They learn to deal with victories and defeats, which form an integral part of their lives. Taekwondo champion, Mensa Kaur, also a student of Grade XI at MRIS Charmwood, says, “Taekwondo has brought freshness and positivity in my life, and has taught me how to face the challenges of the world.”

Cricketer Mohit Girdhar, Sports Captain of the school and a student of Grade XII says, “Sports has not only made me physically fit but also mentally strong.”

Thus, outdoor education awakens children to the world of new ideas and teaches them to convert problems into challenges.
