It was in the year 2010, when the United Nations decided to honour Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, on his 79th birth anniversary and declared his birthday as the ‘World Students’ Day’. Dr. Kalam’s message to the children was to:
Look at the sky. We are not alone. The whole universe is friendly to us and conspires only to give the best to those who dream and work.
To instil this spirit of positivity and pay a tribute to Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Manav Rachna International School, Ludhiana celebrated World Student’s Day by organising a Drawing and Colouring Competition for the students of Grade I to VII. The children were given the theme: Discovering Space. The children gave wings to their imagination to paint astronauts, rockets, space ships, celestial bodies and much more. Their paintings showcased their desire to become an astronaut and explore space. As a part of the astronomy week from 4th October to 10th October, the children had been learning about the significance of space exploration for the development and progress of civilisation. The students were adjudged on the basis of- creativity, presentation and neatness.
