“A parent is a teacher at home and a teacher is a parent in school and the child is the centre of our universe.”
Manav Rachna International School, Sec-51, Gurugram organized an orientation programme for the parents of Nursery, KG and Grades VI-VII students in the school recently. The aim was to familiarize the parents as ‘partners in progress’ with the curriculum, rules and regulations of the school, teaching methodologies and the co-scholastic activities.
The program began with the welcome address by the school Principal, Ms. Pooja Puri about the core values of the school. She shared that childhood is a small window of time to learn and develop at the pace that is right for a child. It was followed by the introduction of teachers. In tandem with ‘Openness and transparency’, EY Coordinator- Ms Tripti Sharma and Coordinator from Grades II-VII- Ms Deepti Arora and the team of teachers apprised the parents with the school ethos and the spirit behind the teaching methodology.
Parents of Early Years enjoyed the wonderful rhymes and jolly phonics session along with the teachers. They were sensitized about the development of personal, social, language, gross and fine motor skills through various examples and hands-on activities.
Furthermore, parents of Grades VI-VII were briefed about the guidelines of the CBSE pattern of examination and were made aware about the Periodic Assessment and Yearly Exams. The teachers gave an overview of various subjects and co-scholastic activities which provided the parents an assurance that the curriculum involves hands-on learning activities.
The orientation programme ended on a good note with the aim of nurturing our children into happy and skillful citizens. The parents later had the opportunity of interacting with their respective class teachers. Overall, it was a fruitful session and a step towards a strong partnership.
